St. Petersburg Museum of Decorative and Applied Arts of Mukhina Academy of Arts and Design (13-15 Solyanoy Lane), founded in 1878 in Baron Stieglitz Academy of Technical Drawing. The museum building was constructed in 1885-96 according to the design of its first director, architect М. Е. Messmacher in Italian Renaissance style.

The main exhibition hall is lighted from upwards and is girdled by two-layer arcades. Its dimension are the next: length is 34 meters, width is 17 meters and height is 22 meters.
