Ancient Odeon

Located on the territory of Paphos Archaeological Park, Odeon is one of the major tourist attractions. This small amphitheater was built in the 1st century AD, and in II-III centuries AD the works were completed by the Romans; it became destroyed in the 4th century as a result of an earthquake. Odeon was discovered only in 1973, and it was then decided to restore it. Originally the impressive structure consisted of 25 audience rows, but after the reconstruction there were only 12 left.

After restoration the amphitheater became a center for the summer music and theatrical performance festivals.
