Guadalest is a small village in Spain on top of a high rock. Originally founded by Arabs in the 9th century the village was conquered by Jaime el Conquistador in the 13th century. Two earthquakes in 1644 and 1748 left big damages. Today the village has around 220 inhabitants, several museums and many souvenir shops for 2 million visitors per year.
