El edifico histórico de la Universidad de barcelona es obra de Elies Rogent, se inició su construcción en 1863, pero no se concluyó hasta 1882. Esta construcción tuvo un gran impacto en la ciudad, ya que era uno de los primeros edificios que se construía fuera de las antiguas murallas.

Las obras de la nueva sede duraron más de veinte años, si bien en el 1871 ya estaban lo bastante avanzadas como para que se pudieran impartir allí las primeras clases.

The historic building of the University of Barcelona is the work of Elies Rogent, began its construction in 1863, but it was not finished until 1882. This building had a major impact on the city, since it was one of the first buildings to be built outside the ancient walls.

Work on the new headquarters lasted for over twenty years, although in 1871 it was already well under way as to enable it deliver the first class.
