The name of the village Güzelyurt means  "nice homeland". Originally most of the people living here were Greek, but politics forced them to leave the country in 1923. Today every year some of their descendants come to the village to celebrate the Greek-Turkish friendship. Here the polititians could learn a lot! In the village you can find traditional stone houses, underground cities and several cave churches.
